From our file of October 14, 1886, we take the following:
"Mr. Walter Cardell, of Perry, and Miss Fannie Sims, of this place, were married at the home of the brides parents, on Court Avenue, Tuesday morning, Rev. Dr. Robertson, of the Presbyterian church, performed the ceremony. About forty guests were present, among whom were three or four couples from Perry, intimate friends, who came to witness the happy event. The bridal party took the nine o'clock train for their new home, where a house newly furnished awaited their arrival. There another of Winterset's best and brightest girls is carried off. There is none more worthy or deserving of a happy and prosperous life than Fannie. She is a jewel beyond price."
Alas, how fickle is life! Fannie, as all loved to call her, died at her home in Perry Sunday morning at 6 o'clock. Last week's MADISONIAN contained the joyous notice of her becoming the mother of a beautiful and promising baby boy; this week we are confronted with the sad and painful duty of recording the death of that young mother. The life that only a week ago was so full of joyous hope for the future has passed from this earth forever, gone to that rest which knows no sorrow or death.
The great giver of all things, in His wise providence, has seen fit to remove this promising and beautiful life while apparently just entering upon a career of usefulness. But while this is true the family and friends are comforted with the thought that it is all for the best. He makes no mistakes; and in His own good time all things will be made right.
The remains arrived here Monday evening and the funeral took place in this city Tuesday morning at half past nine o'clock. A large number of the friends of the deceased assembled to pay their last tribute to the loved one that had been called away.

Page 4, Column 1On Sunday morning came the sad news of the death of Mrs. Cardell (Fannie Sims). It was touching to see with what sadness, and what sorrow for the bereaved family, the news was received by all. For Fanny was one of those true Christian girls whom all loved. And when she died, there were so many who felt they had lost a friend.
Mrs. Cardell's parents came to Winterset when Fanny was quite a small girl. Since her marriage a year and a half ago, her home has been in Perry, this state.
Monday evening her remains were brought here and the funeral took place Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. "The News" wishes to extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
