MRS. MARY E. SMILEY and MRS. CROSBY MCDONALD,
Double Funeral Service Held for Two Sisters

Mrs. Mary E. Smiley died Saturday night at midnight at the home of her brother-in-law, Mr. Crosby McDonald, with whom she had made her home for the past four years.

She had suffered for years with rheumatism and for more than a year was unable to walk but recently had gotten much better and was about the house until Wednesday of last week when she was taken ill with inflammatory rheumatism.

She leaves two sons, Leon, who works near Pitzer, and who was with her during her illness and Tom, who is a senographer at Washington, D.C.

The death of Mrs. Crosby McDonald, the older sister of Mrs. Smiley, occurred Wednesday morning at half past six. She had been ill with pneumonia for about two weeks and her death had been expected for several days.

Four daughters, Mrs. Nannie Moorman, of Des Moines, Mrs. Lulu Bruett, of Scott township, Mrs. Ollie Wolverton, of Union township and Mrs. Mary Binns, of Webster township and two sons, Wm. and Henderson, who were with her during her illness.

The two funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church this morning at eleven o'clock and the bodies were laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery. The sympathy of this community and of their many friends at North Branch and at Pitzer are extended to the bereaved families in this double affliction.
