Mr. George Stout died in this city Friday of last week. He grew up from boyhood here, and was esteemed by every one as a young man of the highest character; one who enjoyed the confidence of every one with whom he came in contact.

Some time ago he removed to the far west, but his health failing, he returned to the home of his boyhood where his family and friends reside, and here he remained until his death.

The funeral was on Sunday, conducted by the Odd Fellows, of whose body he was a worthy member.

Death of George Stout

George Stout, who came home last summer from California where he had been for several years, died at the residence of his mother on east Jefferson street Saturday morning. His health had been feeble since he was attacked by the grip over two years ago and shortly before his death developed into quick consumption.

He grew up in Winterset and was a noble young man. For many years he was employed in one of the lumber yards here. He went west five or six years ago where he went into the lumber business.

The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon, Rev. Nye of the M.E. church preaching the funeral sermon.
