The many friends and acquaintances at Winterset were pained to hear of the death of Mrs. Helen Roseberry. This notice of her death we clip from the Des Moines REGISTER:

The REGISTER of October 28, 1881, contained an account of the marriage, at Winterset, of Mr. J. M. Roseberry to Miss Helen Smith, the charming daughter of L. F. Smith, the well known banker of that place. The bride of that bright October morning--a picture of youthful health and hope--found herself, at the end of two and a half years, in the toils of an insidious disease which for three long weary years has baffled every effort of love and skill to save the precious life. The long struggle came to an end at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. Long after every ground of hope had vanished the brave heart remained undaunted, and faced the grim destroyer to the last with a heroism almost sublime.

The evening before her death the courageous sufferer turned her worn and haggard face to her husband and expressed her first real apprehension of the inevitable end saying, "Is it possible that I must die?" Then rallying again, she spoke cheerfully and the old hopefulness revived. Yesterday morning, after a night of intense suffering, she lay calm and peaceful, with no sign that the final moment was so near. With almost her last breath she exclaimed to one near her bed: "Oh, I see beautiful flowers and mountains." The surviving members of the broken household are the stricken husband and two bright little boys, Ralph and Paul.

The funeral services will be held at the family residence, 1119 Ninth street, at four o'clock this afternoon. The burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
