Mary Hannah Benedict, daughter of Charles and Hannah Jane Whittiker Wright, was born in Iowa August 25, 1900 and passed away October 2, 1974 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston at 74 years of age. She was married to Mewt Benedict July 4, 1917 at Afton and spent most of her life in this area. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Blunt, Manley, Nebraska, Mrs. Mary Ellen Borst, Redfield, Mrs. Nina Craig of Conway, five sons Ralph Janesville, Wisconsin. Henry and Carl of Redfield, Everett of Panora and Delbert of Winterset, 47 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Goldie Husband of Edgerton, Kansas and Mrs. Ruth Mosley of Patterson, Colorado. Her husband, daughter, parents, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Watts-Lindsay funeral home Saturday afternoon at 1:30. Mrs. Benedict was a member of the Lorimor Christian Church and also Royal Neighbors of America. Rev. Darold Snow officiated and burial was in the Afton cemetery.
