A case of suicide occurred in Jefferson township, in this county, on Wednesday, June 1. The person who thus ended his own life was Moritz Marck, a German, an unmarried man, about forty-six years of age. As a boy in Germany he was schoolmate and friend of Mr. Geo. Mueller. After Mr. Mueller had been in this country several years, he learned that Marck had become considerably -----. He received several letters from him, in which he expressed a desire to come to America. Mueller advised him against it, but he came about five years ago, and for about a year made his home with his old friend, when he went to Denver, Col., whence he returned to this county about a year ago, and again took up his residence with Mr. Mueller. For some time his mind had been failing, he seeming to have little power of memory. He frequently became despondent, and talked about killing himself, but as it seemed to be only idle talk, no attention was paid to it. He had for some time been busying himself, doing chores and cutting and clearing up a piece of brush land on Mr. Mueller's farm. On the 1st inst. he was found dead in this brush field. He accomplished the deed by shooting himself with a gun, working the trigger by means of a string fastened to it and to his foot. His father is still living in Germany, and we are informed, he became disheartened because he had not received any letter from relatives for some months.

Note: Buried in the Jefferson-Goar cemetery. Name on gravestone is Marc Moritz.
