John Swift died at his home in Lee township, July 4th, 1936, in his 65th year. He had been in failing health for several months from weakness of the heart.
His widow, the former Miss Annie Morris of this locality, two sons and two daughters survive him. They are Cyril and John at home, Mrs. Edward McLaughlin of Cumming and Mrs. Donald Lovely of Adair county.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. William Hahessy of Winterset at eight o'clock Monday morning in St. Patrick's church at Cumming. The body was taken to Orient for burial. Two daughters who died when quite young are buried at Orient, where the family lived until two years ago.
