Page 6Mary Jo Saffeels, 55, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at her home in Underwood.
Services were held Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Dexter with Pastor Dick Kaiser officiating. Special music included "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder", and "Standing on the Promises" by Kelly Drotzmann, Cindy Stiles, and Danelle Stiles, and "I'll Walk Just Beyond the Moon" by Tex Ritter. Jeannie Saylor was the pianist.
Bearers were Bill Saylor, Danny Haugen, William Hummel, Tom Loger, Dennis Haugen, and Howard Wilson.
Private scattering of cremains was in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter.
Mary Jo Murphy Saffeels was born in Dexter on June 23, 1952, the daughter of Willard H. and Marjorie (Clark) Murphy.
She graduated from Earlham Community School in May 1970. She worked at several jobs, her last one being with Sapp Brothers Travel Plaza in Council Bluffs.
She loved fishing and being outdoors, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and being with her family. She loved going on road trips with her husband, David, in the semi.
Mary Jo accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.
In 1992, she married David E. Saffeels. Six children were brought to this union.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Willard Murphy; a brother, Harold Murphy; a brother-in-law, Dennis Fredericksen, and an aunt, Lucy Cave.
Survivors include her husband, David; three daughters, Kelly and Craig Drotzmann of Clive, Cynthia Stiles of Underwood, and Danelle Stiles of Des Moines; three sons, Daniel and Marcie Stiles of Earlham and David and Michelle Saffeels, all of Earlham, and Cody Saffeels of Ankeny; seven grandchildren; her mother, Marjorie Murphy of Dexter; two sisters, Gloria Fredericksen of Dexter and Diane and Tom Montanye of Dexter; a brother, Russell and Jan Murphy of Earlham; a sister-in-law, Ellie Murphy of Marshalltown; several nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles, and friends.
Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter, Earlham, and Redfield was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jo Murphy Saffeels, daughter of Willard H. and Marjorie (Clark) Murphy was born June 23, 1952 and passed away September 27, 2007, due to lung cancer at her home in Underwood, Iowa.

Mary Jo is survived by her husband David, daughters Kelly Drotzmann and husband Craig, of Clive, Cynthia Stiles of Underwood, and Danelle Stiles of Des Moines; sons Daniel Stiles and wife Marcie of Earlham, David Saffeels and wife Michelle of Earlham, Cody Saffeels of Ankeny; grandchildren Joseph Stiles of Stuart, Devon, Chelsea, Rylee Saffeels of Earlham, Alex Drotzmann of Clive, Alissa and Ryan Stiles of Earlham; mother Marjorie Murphy of Dexter; sisters Gloria Fredericksen of Dexter, and Diane Montanye and husband Tom of Dexter; and brother Russell Murphy and wife Jan of Earlham, sister-in-law Ellie Murphy of Marshalltown, IA; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
