Harry Keith Wipperman, 84, passed away on October 22, 2007 of complications related to Alzheimer's at Adel Acres Care Center in Adel, IA.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27, at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Grimes.
Keith was born May 31, 1923 to Herman and Lora Wipperman in Grimes. They farmed at Linden and later Winterset. Keith graduated from Winterset High School in 1942. He served as a signalman in the US Navy and was stationed in the Russell Islands in WWII. After the war he attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines and worked at Ford Motor Company. He married Pauline Kochheiser November 11, 1949. They started farming in 1952 and retired in 1991. Keith loved working outdoors and mowing the farmstead. He was a 57-year member of American Legion Post 577 in Grimes and of the First Presbyterian Church in Grimes. He served on the Grimes City Council from 1972 to 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; children, Larry (Elsie) of Kapaau, Hawaii, Carol Calvert (James) of Urbandale, Dean (Jackie) of Grimes, and granddaughter, Lindsey Calvert.
Visitation begins after 3 p.m. Friday at Iles Funeral Homes - Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Grimes or Hospice of Central Iowa, 1205 Second Street, Perry, IA 50220.
