Died, at Des Moines, November 11, 1895, Mrs. Elizabeth Bishop. Mrs. Bishop whose maiden name was Elizabeth Hircock, was born in England, March 21, 1853, She was married to L. Bishop in the winter of 1875. She was converted and joined the Baptist church in Winterset, and has ever since been a zealous christian and a faithful worker in the cause of religion. For the past few years she had suffered from a tumor, and the feeling that her days were numbered served only to increase her religious zeal. The funeral was held Wednesday, November 13th from the Baptist church of this city. The services were conducted by Rev. C. Holmes.

Chips and Whetstones

The remains of Mrs. Elizabeth Bishop, of Red Oak, arrived in this city Tuesday for burial, accompanied by her husband, Lemuel Bishop, and two of her sisters. Mrs. Bishop died Friday last in Des Moines, from the effects of an operation performed the preceding Monday for tumor, with which she had suffered for seven years.

The funeral was held yesterday at the Baptist church and the remains were interred in the cemetery in this city. Mrs. Bishop is the daughter of Peter Hircock, formerly of Walnut township, and the Bishop family were pioneer residents of Madison county. Rev. Holmes conducted the funeral.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
