James Musgrave was born in Wayne county, North Carolina, August 17, 1819, and died at the home of Jos. Alexander in Union township, Madison county, November 10, 1907.
When nine years old he moved with his parents to Vigo county, Indiana. June 1851 he came to Madison county, Iowa which has since been his home with the exception of one year.
He was married to Elizabeth Forrester, December 18, 1842. One child was born to them but died in infancy and Mrs. Musgrave died February 9, 1875, since which time he made his home with Jos. Alexander.
Mr. Musgrave was a member of the M. E. Church for nearly sixty years and lived and died in the faith of the gospel. His last illness lasted about four weeks. He was the last of a family of twelve children. A nephew, Henry Musgrave of Crawford county, Illinois was present at the funeral which was conducted by Rev. E. W. Curtis and the interment made in Winterset cemetery by the side of the grave of his departed companion of years ago.
