Page 1DEATH OF MRS. ELI WRIGHT
The death of Mrs. Eli Wright of near Winterset occurred at the state hospital in Iowa City, where she had been taken for treatment several weeks ago, on December 9. Most of her life, following her marriage, had been spent on a farm two and one-half miles south of Winterset. She was 77 years of age.
Mrs. Wright was born as Addie Vanschoy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Vanschoy, at Brooklyn, Iowa, on August 8, 1857. She married Eli Wright in Winterset on July 10, 1873. They were the parents of 11 children, four dying in infancy, and three others later. Two nephews and several grandchildren also found a home with them. She united with the church at a revival meeting about 30 years ago and was baptized in Middle River.
Survivors include her aged husband; three sons, Joe Wright of Waterloo, and Jesse L. Wright and Floyd Wright of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. Daisy Beem of Winterset, 26 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Elias Vanschoy of Oregon; and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Jones of Indianola.
Funeral services were held from the Tidrick Funeral home on December 11 in charge of the Rev. W. W. Bentzinger of the Methodist church. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
