OBITUARY

Elizabeth Allen Ballard, daughter of Levi and Hulda Ballard, was born at Earlham on December 18, 1871, and passed away in Storm Lake, November 8, 1957 at the home of her daughter, Doris. She was educated in the schools of Earlham and received her religious training in the Quaker faith from her parents. She was united in marriage to John Charles Thomson September 29, 1892 in Earlham and was honored by being the mother of two sons and six daughters.

The family came to Storm Lake in 1914 and have made this their home and reared their family here. Mrs. Thomson was deeply religious and was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian church. Her early Quaker training endeared her to all who knew her for her calm, trustful outlook on life.

Mrs. Thomson is survived by her husband, companion of 65 years, a devoted family of eight children, 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon from Hughes-Nelson Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Dr. Luther Powell in charge. The six young men who carried her to rest were sons of friends of years and known to her from birth.

While Mrs. Thomson was a retiring, home-loving person, her influence for all that was good is firmly stamped on the lives of those who knew her, and they all rise up and call her blessed.
