Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa
October 3, 1878 - page 6

A little son of Mr. Eagan, of Madison county, strayed off from home near Commerce on Thursday evening of last week, and was found dead Monday, about three-quarters of a mile from the house. It appears that he started from home to go to his father, who was assisting a neighbor to thresh, but must have left the main road. When found lying beside a fence, apparently as if he had just fallen off, and from the tracks visible it was supposed that he must have been alive for at least twenty-four hours after he was missed.

(Note: son of James Eagan; died 9-22-1878)
