We are sorry to announce the death of John Cooter, who passed away Sunday night at 8 o'clock after a short but severe spell of sickness. The funeral will be held at the house Tuesday at 11 o'clock, Rev. Bennett conducting the services.

Obituary

John Spellman Cooter was born in Monroe county, Indiana, May 10, 1864, and died in Madison county, March 2_, 1904. He was married to Candace Lucia Harrell, of Madison county, Iowa, October 31, 1888.

He with his wife returned to his old home in Indiana where they lived till four years ago, when they came west to seek health for him. To this union were born three daughters, one of them dying prior to the death of the father, the other two are left with the mother to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and indulgent father, he also leaves his aged parents, one brother and four sisters, besides a host of friends to mourn the loss of their good brother. One sister and two brother preceded him in death.

Mrs. Cooter together with the little girls recently united with the Christian church and Mr. Cooter intended to join with them. He professed faith to his savior and wanted to be baptized.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Bennett from the home in Lincoln township and the remains laid to rest in the Hooten cemetery.
