Died, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. G. W. Roberts, in Lee township, February 14th, Mrs. Joanna Alger, aged 87 years, 11 months and 29 days. Mrs. Alger leaves an aged husband, a brother and sister, children, grandchildren to mourn their loss. Mrs. Alger's maiden name was Ester, and she was born in Burrellsville, Rhode Island, in the year 1797, and married Lemuel Alger, of the same town, in April of the year 1820. Mr. and Mrs. Alger came to Iowa in July of 1875, and have lived with their daughter. Mrs. Alger was the mother of eleven children, of which only three are living, Mrs. Roberts and two sons in Massachusetts.
