BURIAL HERE FOR MRS. JOHN SAWHILL

Funeral services for Mrs. John (Flora) Sawhill, age 93, of Des Moines, who died Feb. 27 at the Iowa Lutheran hospital, were held at the Dalstrom Funeral Home in Des Moines on March 2nd.

Mrs. Sawhill was born in the Scotch Ridge community near Carlisle. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Lindsay Ledlie.

In 1905, Flora Ledlie and John C. Sawhill were united in marriage. To this union were born five children. The family made their home in Jackson township and lived there until 1924 when they moved to Des Moines. She joined the Pitzer United Presbyterian church as a bride. The family often stayed at the farm during the summer and attended the Pitzer church where they continued active. Some member of the Sawhill family has been on the Pitzer church roll continuously since 1875. In later years she became a member of the Westminister United Presbyterian church in Des Moines.

She attended Monmouth college and taught school in Warren county for several years.

Surviving are a son, J. Wilbur Sawhill of Des Moines and three daughters, Iola Fuller and Eleanor Sawhill of Des Moines, and Mabel Sawhill of Silver Springs, Maryland and a daughter-in-law, Jessie Sawhill Bond of Winterset. Her husband and one son, Harold, preceded her in death.

She also leaves seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Grimes of the Westminister U.P. church in Des Moines, with graveside services and burial at the Winterset cemetery.
