Word came by wire Sunday morning to Mrs. Dr. Thompson, telling of the death of her father, J. P. French at the home of her brother, Z. A. French at Airlie, Oregon.
The body will be brought here for burial but just when it will arrive is not yet known. Mr. French was formerly a resident of Winterset and senior member of the firm of J. P. French and Sons lumber dealers. He was 81 years of age.

The body of the late J. P. French arrived in Winterset Friday evening and was buried from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dr. Thompson at 9:30 Saturday morning. T. M. French came with the body from Airlie, Oregon.
Earl French and wife of Chicago, Orland French of Ottumwa and Russell Thompson of Grinnell, all grandsons; T. G. French of Keokuk, a brother; R. H. French of Prairie City, a nephew; Mrs. Sterling and Mrs. Milleson of Prairie City and Mrs. Timmons of Des Moines, nieces; and Helen Thompson of Bonaparte were here for the funeral.
