Miss Vinnie Hillbury died July 20, aged 17.

It is hard to write down the death of one so young, so accomplished, so beloved by her own family and all who knew her. But recently so bright, so kind, so beautiful, in the schools, in our churches and the home circle, a kind word for all, a sweet smile for all who foretold that her "sun was to go down while it was yet day," who predicted the coming of "the pale horse and his rider." But he came into the house of the weeping mother and fond father; he entered and "her hands are cold, her face is white."

Unmoved by the tears of affection, careless of youth, hope and promise, unawed by wealth, remorseless death unbaffled, scoffed at our grief, "and over the river the boatman pale, carried another, the household pet."

Everything that affection and friendship could do for the patient emaciated sufferer was done. All tried to soothe and save this estimable and amiable young lady, but in vain. "There is no armor against fate," and she passed "from the blossom of health to the paleness of death."

The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. J. D. Buckner. Her remains were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of weeping friends, where she sleeps beside relatives. "Till the heavens be no more they shall not awake, or be raised out of their sleep."

OBITUARY NOTICE.

Died, Miss Sabina Hillbury, July 20th, 1884, at 11:40 o'clock, of Consumption, after a severe sickness of about six months duration. Several weeks before her death she was conscious of her condition and knew she had not long to stay with her many friends, but was satisfied with the will of God. At last she called all her friends around her and bade them all good bye with a kiss and a request to meet her in heaven. She said she was happy and had no fear. She passed away peacefully and her remains were followed to the M. E. Church by a large concourse of relatives, school mates and friends.

The casket was borne by six of her schoolmates, the rest forming a procession. In the church each one proved their love and respect for her by placing in the casket a boquet of flowers. The discourse was delivered by Rev. J. D. M. Buckner, singing by her schoolmates, after which she was taken to her long home, where let her rest. Her Maker has called her home. Rest sweetly rest. In the words of her favorite hymn we hope
"We shall meet beyond the river,
Where the surges cease to roll."
