OTTO MARXEN OF MACKSBURG DIES

Otto H. Marxen, a well-known Madison county resident for many years, died Thursday, April 23, at his home in Macksburg. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Marxen was a native of Cass county, where he was born near Marne on March 24, 1895, a son of Wilhelm F. and Paulina Thompson Marxen. He was married at Omaha on Jan. 22, 1920, to Bessie I. Lawless, who survives him.

Mr. Marxen's active life was spent in farming. He came to Madison county in 1926, and had lived here since that time.

He was active in the Madison county ASCS organization over a period of years. He was a member of the Lutheran church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Maurice I. Marxen of Modesto, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Dick Hill of Winterset; one grandchild; and two great grandchildren. He also leaves ine brothers and sisters: George and Louie Marxen and Mrs. Mary Martens, all of Winterset; John and Ted Marxen, Mrs. Ella Williams and Mrs. Maggie Hulin, all of Atlantic; Max Marxen of Davenport; and Mrs. Martha Kirkpatrick of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by ther Rev. Ronald Kinzler. Burial was made at Moon cemetery there.
