WILLIAM T. SMITH

William T. Smith, age 90 years, 10 months, passed away suddenly on November 11, 1964 at the Bartels Home at Waverly, Iowa.

Mr. Smith, the son of Milton Abram Smith and Elizabeth Tanner was born January 14, 1874 near Ancramdale, New York. He moved with his parents to a farm south of Earlham in 1876 where he resided until 1918.

He was married to Laura M. Arnold on March 26, 1913. To this union were born three children: Howard, Harold and Elizabeth. His wife passed away on May 2, 1935.

Mr. Smith farmed, first on the old home farm south of Earlham, then moving to a farm near Dexter in 1918 and to Dallas Center in 1944. He retired to his home in Earlham in 1950. In failing health in recent years, he moved to the Bartels Home at Waverly in 1962.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Pearl Price of Earlham, by two sons, Howard W. Smith, Waverly and Harold A. Smith, Belmond, and by one daugher (Elizabeth) Mrs. Cecil Brandenburg, Waukee and by 10 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Laura and his six brothers, Fred, Chester, Asa, Clarence, Ray and Claude.

Services were held at the Presbyterian church at Earlham at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 14, with burial at the Dexter cemetery. He formerly was a member of the Dexter Presbyterian church, later transferring his membership to the Earlham Presbyterian church.
