James Finlayson, many years known to the people of Winterset and vicinity as Father Finlayson, died at the residence of Theo. Wight Tuesday of last week. Father Finlayson was a native of Scotland and at the time of his death was upward of eighty years old. He was a man of fine education and in his time filled various important offices. He was a man of great piety, and an active worker in the Methodist church, of which he was a life long and consistant member. He could read the Bible in four different languages and during the past year that book has been his constant companion. His funeral took place from the Methodist church of Winterset, Rev. A. B. Shipman officiating.
