GONE HOME

Died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. L. F. Means, in Grand River township, June 28th. Mrs. Lavinia Weeks aged 73 years. Mother Weeks was born near Cumberland Gap, Tenn. Oct. 2, 1809. She came to Madison county in 1859. The deceased was a consistent professor of religion for 46 years. She was one of the many who rely on the promises of the Lord for help in time of need. She always had a smile and cheerful word for every one, and ready to help all who came to her. Her Christian fortitude and patience were an example worthy to be followed by all. She died having the love and respect of all who knew her. She was married to I. W. Weeks in 1828, her maiden name being Powers. The fruit of this union being four sons and five daughters, seven of whom were with both father and mother at the time of the death. She and her aged companion had lived together 54 years.

Note: Burial was made in the Hamblin cemetery.
