MRS. V. H. EMERSON DIES AT 44 YEARS

Mrs. Verne H. Emerson of Lorimor died Sunday, Oct. 4, at a Des Moines hospital, after an extended period of failing health. She was 44 years of age.

Mrs. Emerson was a native of Madison county. She was the former Betty Orma Howard, daughter of Orville and Alice Howard, and was born at St. Charles June 12, 1926. She was married to Verne H. Emerson at Troy, Kan., on Jan. 10, 1946. Her home had been at Lorimor since that time.

She was a member of the Methodist church, and the Eastern Star Lodge at Lorimor.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald Housman of Granger and Carolyn Sue Emerson, at home; her mother, Mrs. Alice Howard of St. Charles; a granddaughter; a brother, Robert Howard of St. Charles; and a sister, Mrs. Judy Frey of Des Moines.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday from the United Methodist church at Lorimor, conducted by the Rev. James Seibert. Burial was to be made in the St. Charles cemetery.
