H. LEE EVANS OF WINTERSET DIES

H. Lee Evans of Winterset died last Thursday, Nov. 5, at Memorial hospital here. He was 73 years of age.

Mr. Evans was born in Madison county Jan. 30, 1897, and spent his life in farming and construction work in this county. He moved from Macksburg to Winterset in 1968.

Mr. Evans was married at Newton on May 24, 1930, to Gladys Oglesbee, who survives him.

He also leaves four daughters, Mrs. Hittie M. Swazel of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Rosalie Mower of Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Valda J. Lynch of Ft. Dodge, and Mrs. Donna M. Wendler of Iowa City; in addition to 12 grandchildren; a brother, Charles Evans of Des Moines; and three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Palmer and Mrs. Ethel Givan of Des Moines and Mrs. Elizabeth Pinckney of Macksburg.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the First United Methodist church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
