FORREST HENRICHS, CRESTON

Forrest Wright Henrichs, 83, died Aug. 8, 2007, at Creston Nursing & Rehab Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 11, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with Pastor Jim McCutchan officiating. Burial was at Murray Cemetery.

Forrest Henrichs was born March 24, 1924, to Charles Forrest and Eva Cleo (Wilkins) Henrichs of Thayer and attended school in Hopeville and Thayer. His marriage to Dorothy Lucille Stephenson took place Dec. 17, 1947, in Peru. Forrest farmed and worked for Carpenter Supply as a feed grinder before becoming a bus mechanic and bus driver for the Bondurant/Farrar School District. He retired 10 years ago from the downtown Des Moines Post Office where he was employed as a mechanic. A resident of Creston for the past five years, Forrest was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Creston and also attended Kingsway Cathedral in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie DeLong of Chariton; one son, Rick Henrichs of Des Moines; two brothers, Dwayne Henrichs of Thayer and Harold Henrichs of Branson, Mo.; and four grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Green Valley Hospice in Creston.
