Doris E. Vert, 84, Winterset Dies

Doris Evelyn Vert, 84, of Winterset, formerly of Lorimor, died Dec. 30, 2003 at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were on January 2, 2004 at Power Funeral Home in Afton. Dwayne Henrichs officiated the service. Burial was in the Lorimor cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Winterset Care Center North of Middle River Hospice in Winterset.

She graduated from Peru High School and American School of Beauty. On Dec. 14, 1938 she married Marshall Vert in Creston. She worked as a beautician in Lorimor for 20 years. She moved to Des Moines where she worked at Look magazine, Iowa Abstract Co., and State of Iowa Agriculture Department, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Lakeshore Country Club for many years.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Vert of Lorimor; a brother-in-law Durward (wife Donna) Vert of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Roday Vert of Griswold, Rick (friend Carol) Vert of Melbourne and Teri (husband Jason) Stolte of Des Moines and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984 and a son, Jerry Vert in 1999.
