Former Winterset Resident Had Been Ill at Home of Daughter
LORIMOR - Mrs. Clara Conwell, former resident of Winterset, died last Thursday, Feb. 3 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Opal Gorr of Lorimor, with whom she had lived for the past five months. She was 86 years of age.
Mrs. Conwell was a native of Clarke county, where she was born Sept. 2, 1868. She was the former Clara J. McCants, daughter od David and Sarah Ellen McCants. She was married Sept. 11, 1888 to William N. Ergenbright. They were parents of three children, Agnes, Opal and Jay. Two of the children, Agnes and Jay preceded her in death. The husband and father died in 1917.
Her second marriage occurred on Nov. 19, 1924 and was to Carlos Conwell of Baxter. He died in 1936.
After the death of Mr. Conwell she made her home in Winterset until five months ago.
Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Gorr of Lorimor; a daughter-in-law Mrs. Bertha Ergenbright of Newton; a sister, Mrs. Nina Jacques of New York City; three grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Note: Buried at the Lorimor Cemetery, Lorimor, Iowa, with the Ergenbright surname listed. Her headstone does not have a last name on it.
