85-Year-Old Man's Death Occurred Tuesday of Last Week
George W. Davis, a resident of Madison and Union counties since 1906 died Tuesday Feb. 8 at a Creston Convalescent home at the age of 85 years.
Mr. Davis was born in Hagerstown, Md. Dec. 2, 1863, the son of Jacob and Catherine Davis. His early life was spent in Illinois and in 1886 he came to Webster county, Iowa with his father and two brothers. He came to Madison county in 1906.
He is survived by two brothers, Ben Davis of Green Ridge, Mo., and Fred Davis of Whiting and five sisters, Mrs. Alice Dufur of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lovica Chambers of Loveland, Colo., Mrs. Hattie Reed of Winsor, Mo., Mrs. Dorothy Yates of Green Ridge and Mrs. Anna Kingery of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Watts Funeral home at Lorimor in charge of the Rev. C. A. Nicholson of Creston. Burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
