Born Here in Pioneer Days; Was Life-Long Resident of County
Henry Bierce, who was born in Madison county when it was still a pioneer community, and whose entire life was spent here, died in Winterset last Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the age of 89 years.
Charles Henry Bierce was born at Macksburg Nov. 8, 1860 a son of William and Nancy Bierce. He was married June 27, 1888 to Nora Stead. They were the parents of a daughter, now Mrs. John Parker of Lorimor.
Mr. Bierce's active years were spent in farming. After his health failed he moved into Winterset. He had lived here for many years. His wife died six years ago.
He attended the Foursquare church here as long as his health would permit.
In addition to his daughter, he leaves two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Josie Clough of Creston.
Funeral services were held from the Richards Funeral home last Saturday in charge of the Rev. Howard Carson, pastor of the Foursquare church. Burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
