We learn that ex-Sheriff Samuel Hamilton, of Jackson township, died last Monday. He was a man highly esteemed by his neighbors and friends.

Monument-One of the finest monuments that has ever been erected in Madison county, standing over 13 feet high, has just been put up by I. N. Webster of Des Moines, over the grave of Mr. Samuel Hamilton, deceased, who lived in Jackson township, and was at one time Sheriff of this county. Mr. Webster is doing the most extensive marble and granite work in Central Iowa, and is noted for superior workmanship, and low prices. His works are located on corner of 6th and Walnut Street, Des Moines, Iowa.
