Page 4Resolutions on the Death of Teachers
The following resolutions were offered and passed by the Normal Institute as an expression of their sympathy, occasioned by the removal of two of their number since the meeting of the last Institute.
The following members of committee appointed to draft resolutions on the death of Mr. A. L. Carson and Miss Nannie Polk, report as follows:
Mr. Carson died April 12th, 1877 after having completed a successful term of school at Patterson.
Resolved, By the teachers of Madison county, that we remember with pleasure the time and occasions in which we have mingled with these-our deceased co-laborers, that we appreciate the preserving and faithful efforts which they evinced in the prosecution of their professional work and cheerfully bear the record to the social qualities and many virtues which characterized their private lives.
Resolved, further that we extend to the friends and relations of the deceased our heartful sympathies.
