MRS. MAE GOWIN DIED WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Mae Gowin, member of a prominent Jefferson township family, died last Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Madison Manor in Winterset, where she had lived the last two years.

Mrs. Gowin was 79 years of age at her death. She was the former Mae Olive Meyer, daughter of Fredrick and Alice Roderick Meyer, and was born in Jefferson township May 28, 1890.

She was married to George C. Gowin on Jan. 28, 1920. They were parents of three children, all of whom survive. Mr. Gowin died in 1948.

She was active in the Evangelical United Brethren church for many years, and at the time of her death was a member of the United Methodist church of Van Meter.

The three children surviving Mrs. Gowin are Howard Gowin of DeSoto; Mrs. W. H. Ford of Huston, Tex., and Herb Gowin of Van Meter. She also leaves a brother, Earl Meyer of Van Meter; and seven grandchildren, Cara, Gisele and Dana Gowin of DeSoto, Arnold and Martin Ford of Texas, and Rick and Roschelle Gowin of Van Meter.

(Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery)
