ROY McNELEY DIED THURSDAY

Roy R. McNeley of Winterset, a retired Madison county farmer, died Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Horton Nursing home here. He was 87 years of age.

Mr. McNeley was a life-time resident of Madison county. He was born here Feb. 28, 1882, a son of Jacob and Minerva Bishop McNeley. He had retired from farming in 1951.

He was married in 1900 to Myrtle Wright. They were parents of five children, two of whom died in infancy. Those surviving are Russell McNeley of Bull Shoals, Ark., Mrs. Myree Binder of Lincoln, Nebr., and Albert McNeley of Denver, Colo. The wife and mother died in 1915.

His second marriage on Oct. 14, 1925, was to Dottie Hamblin of Polk county, who survives him. They were parents of eight children, all surviving. They are Mrs. Nora Ware of Arizona, Mrs. Mary Bell Jungst of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Gladys Kingery and Mrs. Betty Hardisty of Missouri Valley, Lee and Donald McNeley of Des Moines, Billy McNeley of Guthrie Center, and Dean McNeley of Des Moines. He also leaves 32 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. E. E. Jandebeur, pastor of the First Christian church here. Burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery.
