A. S. Gray (Amos), an old resident of Madison County and Winterset died last Wednesday night. He was quite advanced in years and had almost entirely lost his sense of hearing.

Obituary

A. S. Gray was born in Trumbell county, Ohio, April 26th, 1823, and came to Iowa 1865, settling near Stringtown in this county. He came to Winterset in 1873. He was married in 1844 and was the father of three children, a son and two daughters. He was converted when twelve years of age and has been a consistent member of the M. E. church ever since. He died at his home in this city Thursday, march 16th, 1899, leaving his wife and daughters to survive him. The funeral services were conducted at his house Friday, March 17th at 2 p. m. by Rev. Riheldaffer.
