Bonnie Songer, 59, of Winterset died February 26, 2000 of cancer at her home. Funeral services were held March 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. The Rev. John Shaull officiated the services and burial followed at Winterset Cemetery.
She was born May 7, 1940 in Earlham to Lex and Leona (Baker) Raber. She married LeRoy Alvin Songer on January 20, 1962 in Winterset. She was a 1958 graduate of Winterset High School and worked as an office assistant over 40 years with the Iowa State University Extension Office in Winterset. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Art Center since 1964 and also served on the Art Center board for 15 years and was a lifetime member of the Madison County Fair Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.
Surviving relatives include her husband; one son, Jamie Songer and wife Twana of Winterset; one daughter Jodi Griffith and husband Dean of Thayer; two brothers, Howard Raber of Winterset and Dan Raber of Ackworth; three sisters Betty Golightly, Geneva Partridge and Marilyn Hildebrand all of Des Moines; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
