Obituary – Mrs. Ross Cornman

Sarah Gilbert was born in Menomonie, Wis. Sept. 16, 1861 and died at the home of her sister, Mrs. John Baker in Winterset, Aug. 13, 1913, aged 51 years 10 months and 21 days, on Aug. 5, 1880 she was united in marriage to J. Y. Alvery. Four boys were born to this union, Wilbur O., Henry L. both of Winterset and two dying in infancy. She united with the Church of Christ about 30 years ago, and last December she re-consecrated her life to Christ. On Nov. 3, 1899 she was united in marriage to Ross Cornman, who has been to her a faithful and devoted husband.

Besides those mentioned above, she leaves to mourn her death, four brothers and two sisters, William and John of Des Moines, Preston, twin brother, of Menomonie, Wis., George of West Virginia, Mrs. Ida M. Baker of Winterset, Mrs. Mary Jones of Menomonie, Wis., also Mabel Cornman, an adopted daughter and three grand children. Two years ago last spring she was taken to the hospital in Des Moines and about nine months ago, was again taken to the hospital, but all that medical skill could do was of no avail. She was brought from the farm, about three weeks ago to the home of her sister that she might be waited upon better.

The funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 14th at 2:30 p.m. in the Church of Christ, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis. Interment in the Rock City Cemetery.

Mrs. Ross Cornman, of near Oak Grove, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. A. Baker, in Winterset last Wednesday and was buried in Rock City cemetery Thursday.
