Died with cancer on Sunday, October 16th, Miss Melissa M. Berry at her home, 3 miles west of Barney. She had been in poor health for a number of years. Dr. Cooper of Des Moines and Dr. Chapman of Lorimor, performed the operation and she died almost immediately afterward.

The remains were buried on Monday.
