Obituary: Rebecca E. (Ellen) Beall was born in Morgan County, Illinois on April 27, 1829, being the daughter of Richard and Jemima Beall.

She united with the Baptist Church in 1843. In 1855 she emigrated with her parents to Madison County and united with the Baptist Church of this place at its organization in 1856.

On May 25th, 1875, she was married to Gideon McKibban, who survives her. Her father Richard Beall died on January 17, 1884. Her mother is still living, being 96 years old. The remaining relatives are two brothers, Edward and Leonard Beall and two sisters, Mrs. Charity Matthews and Mrs. Suzie Hill. All of these except Leonard Beall of Cowley County, Kansas were present at her death which occurred on Saturday, July 24, 1897 at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Rebecca McKibben, wife of Gideon McKibben, died of ovarial tumor at her home in the north part of town Saturday evening at 7 o’clock. The funeral was preached at the Baptist church Monday at 10 a.m., by Rev. Jacobs, and the remains buried in the Winterset cemetery.

Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Beall. She was married to Mr. McKibben in Winterset in 1876, since which time they have been one of the most respected families of the city. She was sixty-eight years old at the time of death, and had served a life time in faithful Christian duty, being a charter member of the Winterset Baptist church. Her mother is still living. She also has two sisters, Mrs. Matthews and Mrs. Able Hill, and one brother, Edward Beall, all living in this county, and a brother, Lem Beall, who lives in southern Kansas.

Mrs. Gideon McKibban, who has been sick for several weeks, died last Saturday, and was buried at 10 o’clock Monday from the Baptist church.

The McKibban family are old residents of Winterset, and this affliction will be a matter of sympathy among a host of friends and neighbors. An obituary notice will be published next week.
