Miss Bessie George departed this life Saturday, January 25th at 1:30 p.m. Miss George had been a constant sufferer for more than 20 years, her last trouble being consumption. She was 35 years of age.

Funeral services were held at Friends Church in Earlham and burial took place at the Bear Creek Cemetery.

Betsie George (1896)

Betsie George, daughter of Evan and Asenath George was born in Warren county, Iowa, near Ackworth, March 21, 1857. Removed with her parents and settled near Bear Creek in 1866. She was converted at her home and her Christian life has been one of marked steadfastness, taking a deep interest in the temperance cause and all moral reforms. Mature in Christian judgment she leaves her example as a legacy to her many relatives and friends. The last ten years she has lived a life of perfect trust. She has been a sufferer for about twenty years and died January 22, 1896. Aged 38 years, 10 months and 4 days.
