January 24, 1896Mrs. Mary Lenan, mother of Mrs. Martin McNamara, of Union township, with whom she made her home, died on Thursday evening, January 23rd, at 7 o'clock. She was supposed to be over 100 years old. The remains will be taken to Des Moines for burial.
Transcriber's note: In the 1895 Madison County census, her name is spelled "Linane".

She was supposed to be over 100 years old, and this, if true, would of course make her by far the oldest resident of this county. The remains will be taken to Des Moines for burial.

Mrs. Mary Lenan, an aged lady, living in Union township, died last Thursday evening and the remains were taken to Des Moines for interment. We have been unable to learn further particulars.
