MORTUARY - La Verna Getchell

La Verna B. Bard Getchell, daughter of John S. Bard and Sarah M. Bard, was born in Trumbull county, Ohio, August 22, 1852, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur J. Pring, in Spokane, Washington, October 8, 1934, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to David K. Getchell of Winterset, December 26, 1882. To this union was born one daughter, Blanche. Her husband died January 28, 1913, at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

She came with her parents to Madison county in 1858, where she spent all her younger days, moving with her parents to Indianola in 1872, where she attended college. Here she graduated; she was also a teacher for 16 years in Madison county.

She leaves to mourn her departure her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Pring of Spokane, Washington, two grandchildren, Bobbie and Pattie, and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Godfriaux of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Jennie Puterbaugh of Lanerd, Illinois, and Mrs. Lillian Yates of Winterset, and other relatives and a host of friends. Two sisters preceded her in death, Laranda, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Eugenia George, who died January 2, 1930.

Her funeral services were held on October 11, followed by cremation.
