GRACE BAPTIST MINISTER DIES

Rev. E. C. Shute, Winterset Pastor, Had Been Ill Since Oct. 18

The Rev. Edward C. Shute, pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Winterset the last three years, died Friday, Nov. 5 at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. He had suffered a stroke on Oct. 18, and his condition had been critical since that time.

The Rev. Mr. Shute was 74 years of age. He was a native of England, where he was born March 28, 1880, a son of Walter and Alice Shute. He was married in England on Dec. 2, 1902 to Florence M. Parrish. They came to America in 1914.

He was educated for the ministry at Moody Bible Institute and the Northern Baptist seminary and was ordained in 1917 at Chapsworth, Ill.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Cooper of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Ada Kulp of South Bend, Ind.; and a brother, Edwin R. Shute of Alexandria, Vo.

Funeral services were held from the Grace Baptist church in Winterset Monday conducted by the Rev. Robert Gardiner of Forest City and Rev. Lawrence Bong of Perry. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
