Heart Attack Claims Life of Well-Known Farmer Last Friday
Robert E. Newbury, a well known farmer of this community died Friday, Sept. 17, at his home south of Winterset. Death came as a result of a heart attack. He was 62 years of age.
Mr. Newbury was a native of Adair county, where he was born March 20, 1892, a son of Evermont and Hettie Edsell Newbury. He was one of a family of 10 children. His early life was spent in Adair county.
He was married Jan. 3, 1912 to Beulah Jameson. They came to Madison county in 1924 to a farm in Union township, where they lived until 1951, when they moved to the present home south of Winterset.
He is survived by his wife and six children; Donald Newbury of Greenfield, Mrs. Carl Josephsen of Los Angeles, Mrs. Harold Bruett of Patterson, Mrs. Edwin Van Dolah of Winterset, Mrs. Lee Rinehart of Los Angeles and Max Newbury at home. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Moffitt of Fontanelle and Mrs. Errol Sinclair of Eugene, Ore.; and four brothers, Clarence and Marvin Newbury of Greenfield, Fay Newbury of Waukesha, Wisc., and Dana Newbury of Taylor, Nebr.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the pastor the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
