JOSEPH P. KING BURIED SATURDAY

Well-Known Resident of Irish Settlement Was 83 Years of Age

Joseph P. King, a well-known resident of the Irish settlement in northwest Warren county, died Thursday, Sept. 9 at his home near St. Patrick's church, after an extended illness. He was 83 years of age.

Mr. King was born in that community on Dec. 9, 1870, a son of Bernard and Rose King. With the exception of two years, his entire life was spent in the neighborhood where he was born.

He was married Feb. 9, 1898 to Mary Margaret Dooley. They started housekeeping on a farm northeast of Winterset, spending two years there, before returning to Warren county.

Mr. King is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Lester Bishop of Ankeny; and six sons, Joseph and Charles King of Cumming, Walter King of Van Wert, John King of Prole, George King on the home place and Louis King of Crawford township. He also leaves a brother, Thomas King of Cumming; 29 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday with requiem high mass from St. Patrick's Catholic church in Lee township. The Rev. John Hart conducted the Mass and services assisted by the Rev. Father Zuch of Cumming. The six sons served as pall bearers and three grandsons assisted on the altar. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery.
