ST. CHARLES MAN DIES AFTER AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT THERE

Second Highway Fatality of 1954 Occurs in Madison County

Franklin F. Jones of St. Charles was fatally injured Wednesday of last week when struck by a car while crossing highway No. 251 in St. Charles.

It was the second highway fatality of 1954 in Madison County. They first was the death of Mrs. William Bryant, killed April 17 in a headon collision on No. 92, near Bevington.

Mr. Jones was 75 years of age and had been living at a nursing home in St.Charles. He was crossing the highway there Saturday afternoon, when he was struck by a car driven by Charles Cummings, who lives north of St. Charles. He was taken to the nursing home, where his death occurred a short time later.

Mr. Jones was born on Dec. 31, 1878 at Pocahontas, Ark., but had lived in St. Charles more than 50 years. He was a mason by trade.

He was married in 1903 to Minnie Colton. The wife and one daughter, Irene, preceded him in death.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marie Clarke of St. Charles; a son, John Jones of near Winterset; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday from the St. Charles Christian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Joe King. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery
