EARL A. FARLOW DIED WEDNESDAY

Had Been Business Man and Peace Officer Here Most of Life

Earl A. Farlow, a business man and law enforcement officer in Madison county for many years, died this Wednesday morning at the age of 63 years.

Death resulted from a complication of asthma and heart conditions. He had been a patient at Memorial hospital here for more than two weeks and was removed from the hospital Tuesday to a home in Winterset to which his family had moved from Peru recently.

Mr. Farlow was a life-long resident of Madison county except for a few years in Arizona, the west coast and at Yale, Iowa. He had operated bakeries and restaurants in Winterset and at Truro and for many years was Winterset city marshall. Recently, he had been in business at Peru, until his health failed.

Surviving are his wife; seven children, George and Myers Farlow of Winterset; Mrs. Robert Phillips of Truro; Mrs. Wendell Brooks of Superior, Mont.; Mrs. Robert Gollon of Moranci, Ariz.; Carl Farlow of Peru and Mrs. Bernard Condon of Long Beach, Calif. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Guiher Greenwood of Winterset and a brother Glen W. Farlow of Grayland, Wash.

No funeral arrangements had been completed as the Madisonian went to press Wednesday.

FARLOW SERVICES HELD ON SATURDAY

Funeral services for Earl A. Farlow, whose death occurred at his home in Winterset Wednesday April 21, were held last Saturday from the Richards Funeral home. The Rev. George DeF.Fisher, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, conducted the services. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mr. Farlow was born at Winterset June 6, 1890, a son of Albert and Mary Farlow, and most of his life was spent in this community. He was married to Lottie Mae Barnett of Winterset on May 14, 1912, and they were parents of seven children, all of whom survive their father.

As a young man, Mr. Farlow learned the baker's trade. He operated his own bakery here and later engaged in the restaurant business in Winterset. For nine years he served as Winterset city marshall.

During World War II he moved to Tacoma, Wash., to work in the shipyards for two years. He returned to Winterset to engage in the business here for several years. After that he was in business at Yale, Truro and Peru.

In addition to his wife and the seven children, he is survived by 20 grandchildren.
