Page 4John C. Thompson Dies
John Calvin Thompson, father of Mrs. Neil Anderson, died at her home here last Saturday, April 7th. He was 85 years of age.
Mr. Thompson suffered a stroke several weeks ago and had been seriously ill since that time.
Mr. Thompson was born in Jackson county, Iowa, on July 15, 1848. He was the youngest son of Henry and Sarah Moore Thompson. In 1867 he moved with his parents to Madison county where he spent most of his life.
On June 11th, 1873, he was married to Nancy Jemima Clark who passed away November 22, 1929.
The deceased is survived by seven daughters. In addition to Mrs. Anderson, they are: Mrs. T. J. Miller of Adair, Mrs. T. J. Link of Ames, Mrs. E. O. Deakin of Des Moines, Mrs. A. D. Smith of Springfield, Missouri, Mrs. L. M. Bond of Great Falls, Montana, and Mrs. Howard Dowd of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 9th in the First Presbyterian church of which he was a member. The pastor, Dr. R. C. Cully, officiated, assisted by Dr. E. G. Williams of Des Moines, a long time friend of the family. Burial was made in the Masonic cemetery at Des Moines.
