Mrs. Ella Campbell Died on Thursday at Age of 94 Years
Mrs. Ella Campbell, member of a pioneer Scott township family died here last Thursday, Jan. 14, at the age of 94 years.
Mrs. Campbell was the former Elmeretta Lynch, daughter of Benjamin and Rachel Lynch. She was born in a log cabin in Scott township on Jan. 1, 1860.
On Nov. 21, 1878, she was married to W. J. Buckmaster. They were parents of one son, Robert. Mr. Buckmaster died in 1879 and the little boy's death occurred in 1890.
On Dec. 25, 1882, she was married to Benjamin N. Campbell of Winterset. They were married 58 years before his death parted them on Sept. 3, 1940. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell were parents of six children, three of whom preceded the mother in death.
At an early age she had united with the United Brethren church, but in recent years she had attended the First Baptist church in Winterset. She was a member of the Woman's Relief corps for 33 years and of the American Legion auxiliary for 30 years.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Grace Chew and Arthur A. Campbell of Winterset and Dewey Campbell of Portland, Ore.,eight grandchildren, 21, great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
