Baby's Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Bussanmas Injured Sunday, Also
The two-weeks old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bussanmas of Des Moines was fatally injured Sunday morning in a car crash on the Eighteenth street viaduct in Des Moines. The baby's parents, and his 2 and one-half year old brother were injured also.
The fatally injured infant was Daniel Phillip. He died at Blank Memorial hospital about five hours after the crash as result of a skull fracture.
The family was starting to drive from Des Moines to Churchville, where the infant was to be baptized that morning at Assumption Catholic Church, when the accident occurred. The car driven by Bussanmas crashed into a car which had just been parked on the viaduct by a chemist employed by the Des Moines waterworks. The chemist was preparing to measure the water level gauge on the Raccoon river there.
Mr. and Mrs. Bussanmas and their son, Steven, were hospitalized also. Mr. Bussanmas was treated for severe head cuts and possible chest injuries. They were released later Sunday. Steven was being treated for possible head injuries and was reported in fairly good condition late Sunday.
The baby killed was a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Bussanmas of Bevington. His mother was the former Catherine Woods of near Churchville.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from Assumption Catholic church at Churchville. Burial was made in the cemetery there.
